Boris Vian’s novel The Froth on the Daydream (L' Ecume des Jours) has given me rise to the composition of new and original music material, which blends late-romantic and impressionist harmonic development with a modern approach to the music production of today. The homonymous novel is an ode to Εxistentialism and the everlasting struggle of Ego against the masses who are always wrong. Chloe's illness, a water lily growing in her lungs, slowly and painfully kills her while the only way for her to heal is if she is surrounded by flowers. In a tender act of true love, Colin (Chloe's beloved) spends all his fortune in order to constantly provide her with flowers, until her very last moments. A Serenade to love and death, an absolute Suite with such a melodic flow, a contrast between the surreal and the actual existence. "A Prelude in minor key" as the writer said.
